As one of the oldest activitely run karate schools in Bengaluru, we established our institute in 1982. We pride ourselves not just for creating good martial artists, but well rounded individuals who contribute positively to the society.
Our batch of experienced instructors ensure that our students are always upto the mark, ready to succeed, both on the fighting arena and in life!
Kyoshi Shihabudeen K K
Kyoshi Shihabudeen, a 8th Dan Black belt holder in karate, is the founding master and Grandmaster of SOMAT, which he founded in 1982. Through the years, he has trained thousands of students to reach greater heights in their karate and professional lives.
He began his practice of karate in 1972 and achieved his first black belt under Grand Master Choo Choo Soot in 1979. He also holds a 4th degree black belt in kubodo and practiced under various masters from different countries, like Grandmaster Ricky Wong, Grand Master Philp Chan, Master Alim among others.
Kyoshi Shihabudeen achieved his 8th Dan (8th Degree black belt) from the International Karate Academy in 2019 and currently runs multiple karate schools across the country.
As an international jury, he travels to various prestigious tournaments across the world to officiate in it.
Renshi Shiril S Jude - Chief Instructor
Renshi Shiril started out his journey in karate in 2000. He obtained his first black belt in 2005 from Kyoshi Shihabudeen and currently holds a 6th Dan Black Belt. He has trained under several masters like Kyoshi M Satish, Kyoshi K V Ravi, Renshi Roze Diogene, etc.
As a 4-time National Champion, he has been a winner of several national and state level tournaments over the years. Several students and black belts have passed out under his guidance in SOMAT, where he holds the role of Chief Instructor since 2024.
Renshi Roze Diogene - Chief Instructor (Tamil Nadu)
Renshi Roze Diogene holds a 5th Dan Black Belt and is the Chief Instructor in Tamil Nadu. He started his practise in 1988 and apobtained his first black belt in 1994 from Kyoshi Shihabudeen. He has trained numerous students in the path of karate and also their professional lives.
He has officiated in several tournaments and seminars as the Chief Jury across the state.
